Santa Caterina Valfurva is a small and tranquil village at an altitude of 1,730 m. It is situated close to the Swiss border, in the middle of the fairytale-like scenery of the Lombardy Alps. It is also nestled in the protected area of the Stilfserjoch Nationalpark. The resort was not just the venue for the ladies' descent in the world championship in 2005, but also the home of the three time olympic winner Deborah Compagnoni.
