South Tyrol
Visitors to the South Tyrol ski region are sure to find lots of sun, great food and depending on taste, small ski stations with well-kept runs to the giant ski area "Dolomiti Superski".
Italian Alps
West of the Etsch River and easily accessible with the Brenner motorway, you'll find the well-known ranges of Brenta and Presanella. One of these is Bormio, a repeat-host to the Skiing World Cup, and another is Livigno, which lies in a duty-free high valley on the Swiss border.
Venezia
The region Venezia stretches from the Adriatic coast, through the Venetian pre-Alps to the Dolomites. The Province Belluno has the most ski areas with first-class slopes, like for example Cortina d’Ampezzo, which has several mountains that are at least 3,000 m high . The famous peak Marmolada is located here too,which is one of the longest pistes in Europe, at 12 km long! Numerous winter sports and freeride areas ensure pure action.

Italian cuisine is a fusion of numerous regional cooking traditions from all over the country. Due to the geographical spread of the country and the long tradition of cooking, Italy has a vast amount of specialities and ingredients it can access.
Internationally recognised are products like Italian olive oil, various cheeses (Mozarella, Gorgonzola, Parmesan), sausages and animal products ( Mortadella, Salami, San-Daniele-ham, Parma ham) and of course pasta and pizza! Another thing that just belongs to the eating culture in Italy is the pleasure of the many Italian wines (e.g. Chianti, Barolo).
The main meal in Italy is dinner. It is made of a starter, the antipasti, two main courses and a desert. |
