In 1968 Jean-Claude Killy made history on the slopes of Chamrousse when he earned three Olympic gold medals. The resort has lost nothing of its mystique since then. Chamrousse offers fantastic descents for advanced skiers but also perfect conditions for beginners and snowboarders. Chamrousse is located 30 km east of Grenoble and is known mainly due to the Olympic Games, but the village also hosts one stage of the Tour de France. The westward exposure of the town guarantees not only excellent snow but also a lot of sun in the afternoon and evening. A particular attraction is the sunset over the French lowlands. In Chamrousse you can still enjoy the evening sun, even when it is already dark in the lowlands. It is not in vain that Chamrousse literally means "red snow fields".
The village offers all the amenities of a modern wintersports resort such as cosy cafes, pubs, restaurants, discotheques and of course several shops to stroll around in.
