Skiing Zell am See - unlimited winter sports and aprés ski!

The Europe Sport Region is one of the most well-known and important holiday regions in all of Austria. It's situated in the middle of the wonderful Salzburger Land, surrounded by the peaks of the Kitzsteinhorn ski area (3,203 m), Schmitenhöhe (2,000 m) and Maiskogel (1,675 m). Hohen Tauern is integrated in the Europe Sport Region for total winter fun. The main resort, Zell, is romantically situated on the lake and Kaprun, 7 km away, offers everything needed for a perfect winter holiday. In addition to the varied - and through the Kitzsteinhorn glacier - very snow-secure pistes, the region also offers guests an ample leisure and après ski programme. Zell am See - unlimited winter sports and aprés ski!

Zell am See is the tourist centre and district capital of Pinzgau. Surrounded by mighty 3,000 m peaks and gentle hills, the village is located on a lovely peninsula between the Zell Lake and the Schmittenhöhe mountain. The 6 km long tunnel keeps through-traffic out of the city, allowing you to shop in the pedestrian zone undisturbed. Due to its first-class ski area and great selection of leisure time activities, Zell am See has what it takes for a great Austrian holiday.

Cross-country skiers will certainly not get a raw deal in Zell am See! The picturesque landscape surrounding Zell Lake is the ideal terrain for the Nordic disciplines. Zell am See and Kaprun provide 38 km of trail. Kaprun offers 18 km, one of which is a 3 km high-altitude glacial run (2,900 m) at the Kitzsteinhorn. This tour will be a real highlight in the winter holidays for all cross-country skiing fans! Zell am See offers 20 km of diverse trails. The 10 km circuit course on the frozen lake is a special treat! It can, however, only be accessed when the quality of the ice allows it, for a fee. The high run of Zell (1,300 m) is accessible in just five minutes taking the CityXpress! The 2 km trail is ideal for the classic style and lead the skier along the beautiful scenery of the Schmittenhöhe. Night tracks can be found in Kaprun as well as in Zell am See, both with a length of 3 km. If you need more variety there is an access point to the 200 km of the Pinzgau and Saalachtal trails.
